Digital Coordinator for the SPARC Portal

Four years and 3,700+ hours of coordination, administration and communications for the SPARC Portal, a federally funded open neuroscience platform.

The engagement

The SPARC Portal is an open platform that brings together datasets, maps and computational resources for neuroscience and systems physiology research. It is built and maintained by a distributed team of researchers, engineers and program staff across several institutions.

From March 2022 to March 2026 I served as the team’s Digital Coordinator. At more than 3,700 billed hours it is my longest engagement to date.

What I did

  • Kept the administrative side of a multi-institution research program running: scheduling, tracking, follow-ups and the documentation that keeps a distributed team aligned.
  • Ran the program’s public communications, including social media, so releases, events and new resources reached the research community.
  • Coordinated across scientists, developers and program leadership, translating between the groups so work kept moving without waiting on a meeting.

Why it matters

Research programs live or die on coordination. Four years and 3,700 hours with the same team, through multiple platform releases, is the kind of engagement I aim for: consistent, detail-oriented and easy to keep around.
